چکیده
Recently, Derman et al. (1968) reported their studies on electroencephaloSraphic abnormalities in patients with paroxysmal tachycardia and their ifatment with anti-epileptic drugs. They included in their report similar servations made by other workers (Subbotnik et al. 1955, Ringel and Kali^0v, 1964 and Pasini et al. 1967). Their work shows that patients suffering ?m paroxysmal tachycardia, without cardiac pathology, have abnormal uf?tr0encephalogram recordings, especially in the temporal regions, denoting allying malfunction in those areas of the brain. They treated this anomaly

Frontal Lobe Growth Retardation and Dysfunctions in Children with Epilepsy: A 3-D MRI Volumetric Study
Behavioral abnormalities have been noted in specific epilepsy syndromes involving the frontal lobe. Epilepsies that involve the frontal lobe, such as frontal lobe epilepsy (FLE), atypical evolution of benign childhood epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes (BCECTS), and epilepsy with continuous spike-waves during slow sleep (CSWS), are characterized by impairment of neuropsychological abilities, f...
متن کاملInfantile spams without hypsarrhythmia: A study of 16 cases
UNLABELLED In this study, we present the electroclinical features and evolution of patients with epileptic spasms (ES) in clusters without hypsarrhythmia and with or without focal or generalized paroxysmal discharges on the interictal EEG. We also discuss how to nosologically define these cases. METHODS Between February 1, 1990, and December, 2009, sixteen patients met the electroclinical dia...
متن کاملIctal movement disorders and hypothalamic hamartoma.
We report the case of a woman presenting with unusual, symptomatic epilepsy related to a hypothalamic hamartoma, in the absence of mental retardation or precocious puberty. The seizures manifested themselves clinically as characteristic, paroxysmal movement disorders, such as choreic/ballistic movement. This type of phenomenon is rarely of epileptic origin: we thus suggest that the movement dis...
متن کاملParoxysmal autonomic alterations mimicking epilepsy: a case report.
A 22-year-old male patient presented with paroxysmal hyperhidrosis, mydriasis, hypertension, and tachycardia. Cranial and cervical MRI revealed focal atrophy in the high order zone of the central autonomic network and syringomyelia. His physical and neurological examinations were unremarkable. Physiological testing included EEG, SPECT, serum/urine tests and autonomic testing. A poor response wa...
متن کاملNorthern epilepsy syndrome: an inherited childhood onset epilepsy with associated mental deterioration.
A new autosomal recessively inherited disease of the central nervous system involving childhood epilepsy and mental deterioration is described. Twenty three patients (11 males and 12 females) belonging to 11 families from northern Finland have been identified. A common ancestor has been found for nine families. The mean age of onset of epilepsy was 6.7 years (range 5-10 years) and the epilepsy ...
